Cal Poly Campus Dining Wins Silver Award in National Foodservice Competition – Cal Poly News

SAN LUIS OBISPO – The National Association of Colleges and Universities Foodservice (NACUFS) has recognized Cal Poly Campus Dining’s Vista Grande Dining Complex as a silver level recipient of the 2021 Loyal E. Horton Dining Award for Retail Sales – Single concept / Multiple concepts / Market.

“Vista Grande was designed to create a community environment with menus that appeal to all tastes and dietary needs, and it’s an honor to be recognized for that,” said Andrea Burns, associate executive director of commercial services of Cal Poly Corporation. “It’s great to be recognized for Vista Grande’s uniqueness, with its focus on sustainability, nutrition, and incredible food, as well as its success and impact on campus.”

The Retail Sales category recognizes outstanding on-campus retail locations that have innovative features and techniques. Vista Grande was designed to accommodate the ever-changing palate of guests who visit the resort multiple times a day. Each restaurant offers a rotating menu of seasonal dishes reflecting the latest culinary concepts, including international street food, world noodle dishes and fresh, local desserts.

This is the first NACUFS award that Cal Poly Campus Dining has won outside of the catering and nutrition categories. Campus Dining won the grand prize for its 2020 online dining menu.

The NACUFS Awards celebrate exemplary retail spaces, menus, presentations, special event planning, and new dining concepts, and provide a means to share ideas and creative presentations in campus dining services .
