3 Mount Vernon men arrested for armed robbery of food delivery man in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (September 14, 2022) – The men drove to White Plains after taking $50 and jewelry, were followed by their license plates, and were arrested shortly after. Two firearms, including a ghost gun with an extended magazine, were found in the vehicle.

  • Herman I. Turner, 29, of Mt. Vernon, NY

Charges:

  • Robbery – 1st degree, a B crime
  • Criminal possession of a weapon – 2nd degree, a C crime
  • Criminal Weapon Possession – 3rd (extended mag), a D Felony

Police story:

On September 13, 2022 at approximately 3:14 p.m., New Rochelle Police responded to 16 Cliff Street following a report of an armed robbery. The victim, a food delivery driver, told police he was accosted by two black men armed with handguns, who took about $50 and some jewelry. New Rochelle detectives were able to quickly develop leads as well as the vehicle involved. The Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center was notified and was able to help identify the vehicle and notify other police departments in the county. The vehicle was later found parked and unoccupied in the town of White Plains.

Shortly after finding the vehicle, 3 suspects were nearby. The suspects attempted to flee on foot, but were apprehended uninjured after a brief pursuit on foot. Two semi-automatic handguns were in the vehicle, one of which was a “ghost gun” with an extended magazine.
